Miloud Labeid

Miloud Labeid’s organic configurations convey his commitment to personal expression and aesthetic continuity. He uses earthy tones and loose brushstrokes to illuminate the nuances of shape and form, with a particular concentration on rounded forms. Labeid’s work articulates a connection to notions of the eternal through the duplication of primary shapes such as the circle, referencing fertility and the perpetual cycle of existence. Exhibiting his work primarily in Morocco, Labeid held his first show at the Oudaya Museum in Rabat in 1958. From 1958 to 1962, Labeid was an apprentice under the tutelage of artist Jacqueline Brodskis at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Rabat. In 1963, Labeid had his first solo show at the Galerie Bab Rouah and later attended the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1974.
